Patuloy ang digmaan sa buong mundo, patuloy ang pananakop sa mga bansang mayayaman sa kultura at likas na yaman. Isa ang Pilipinas sa patuloy na sinasakop ng naglalakihang mga bansa at negosyo.
Noong panahon na hindi pa nasasakop ang Pilipinas ay mataas ang katayuan sa lipunan ng mga Babaylan, sila ang mga makapangyarihang espiritista, manggagamot at iba pa, mayroon silang kakayahang makipag-usap sa mga elementong nasa labas ng mundo. Mataas at respetado sa lipunan ang mga Babaylan.
Ang likhang ito ay representasyon ng mga Babaylan, sa aking personal na opinyon, ang kapangyarihan ng mga babaylan noong panahon ay patuloy na nananalaytay sa dugo, kaluluwa at espiritu ng mga modernong kababaihang patuloy sa pakikibaka, mga modernong babaylan, patuloy na lumalaban.
Yllang is a migrant worker, feminist, and artist from the Philippines.
Yllang studied two years of interior design in university before her education was interrupted when she had to work as an OPA Overseas Performing Artist in Japan in 2000. Her experiences as a female migrant worker sparked her involvement in activism to advocate for migrant women’s rights, with a particular focus on empowering survivors of trafficking and domestic violence as well as supporting Japanese-Filipino children. She served as president of Batis AWARE (Association of Women in Action for Rights and Empowerment) from 2015 to 2019. She founded Empowerment Through Art in 2017, a collective that promotes awareness of and raises funds for grassroots organizations and aspiring artists. She’s a member of an all-women artist’s organization of the Philippines, KASIBULAN (Kababaihan para sa Bagong Sibol na Kamalayan), a conveyor of Voices of Women for Justice and Peace, and a volunteer artist for Homenet Producers Cooperative and Rural Women Advocates of the Philippines.
Currently, Yllang is an independent artist and has recently returned to university, studying painting at the University of the Philippines – College of Fine Arts.
