“Deja Vu”

Acrylic Gouache on 15″ x 20″ Watercolor Paper
2021

“Déjà Vu” depicts how the Diliman Commune correlates with the current challenges that UP is facing. Now that the UP-DND Accord has been terminated, the fight continues to ensure that the vicinity of the campus remains a safe space, to protect academic freedom, and that the long history of police and military violence and student disappearances will never happen again. For our safety and freedom, we must put up a strong barricade.

Vivianne Villanueva is a 20-year-old student currently studying BFA in Visual Communication at University of the Philippines Diliman. She likes to use gouache in a lot of her illustrations because of its intensity and color. Art has always been her mode of expression and she wants to tell stories and truth through art. Vivianne believes that art connects people through evoking emotions and she wants her art to contribute to a positive change.
